EAT SLEEP READ
From our awesome new friends at WORD BK:
Just wanted to thank all of our favorite local businesses for partnering with us on a great event! The Kate Christensen/Maud Newton reading and Q&A was a wonderful success.
Thanks to The Brooklyn Salsa Company, Dandelion Wine and Wine Cellar Sorbets for helping make the evening such a nice affair. We had super spicy salsa, a delicious red wine and fantastic sangria sorbet - our event attendees loved all of it! (We did too!)
Here are some photos from the event: http://www.facebook.com/home.

Showpaper PotLuck SalsaFire
We rocked out to the Showpaper after party at The Silent Barn the other night with a bag full of Salsa and a bucket full of chips. This gang is making music happen across the city and we were psyched to shake their hands. The loft is an amazing place, huge kitchen and beautiful site specific art around the walls. Lord Thermopolis joined us late in the evening. Roasting. We've considered buying a fire canon to burn our peppers with...
They cooked us beets, we pumped them full of salsa.
music. friends. potluck. Salsa.
Find the Showpaper for listings on each months underground calender.
Peace. Matt BK

Life as we know it
So it's been about 6 months since Matt and I decided to begin the Company.
It's been a ride so far in terms of the creation of not just a product, but a lifestyle to reflect.
Creation is such a delicate thing. To bring this idea to life is I guess the way being a father is to some. The see a spec become a form.
We've done a lot of hard work along with our third operative, Jake, yet it all has been a bit surreal.
I want to do so much with this company. I want to bring about a philanthropic edge that will ultimately hold the karma that keeps the company going. I want us to cross boundaries and spread between Food, Rock, Art, DIY, Design, and Life. I want to enter into every single Brooklyn Rock show and spread the word.I want to get into everyone's hand this delicious salsa that truly destroys all other salsas. All in all, I want this to become your experience and not just mine.
We have alot of work to do in the meantime, with some huge things in the pipeline. Our lives are also out of control. Matt and Jake's acting careers are just on the tip of the iceberg at this point with all of the jobs they're picking up and my music is getting better and more definitive than ever before.
At this point in our lives, we are simply smiling at our maker. We are enjoying this exciting time, loving what life is bringing us.
I recently hung up my old licence plate in our place from when I was in a near death accident (no joke). It's a daily reminder to simply take a deep breath and enjoy what you are breathing.

Salsa Vs. Ketchup
The debate rages on as to which product sells more in terms of revenue, units, and overall quantity.
Ever since 1992 when the first study came out stating Salsa beat Ketchup, many have argued the study is not totally conclusive.
for example...
http://blogs.wsj.com/numbersguy/ketchup-vs-salsa-by-the-numbers-191/
Personally, I buy a bottle of ketchup about once or twice a year. Before I owned a salsa company, I probably bought 2 jars of salsa a month. To me, there are not many people who sit down and eat an entire bottle of ketchup in one sitting. My bet is that you, the reader of this blog, most likely have eaten an entire jar of Salsa before in one sitting. I know I have several times, even before considering running a Salsa company.
Either way, there's one thing you can not ignore and that is Salsa is both tasty and healthy. With the launch of The Brooklyn Salsa Company, our goal is to redefine salsa.
For example...
Omelets with Ketchup
vs.
Omelets with Salsa
Cheeseburgers with Ketchup
vs.
Cheeseburgers with Salsa
Both of these examples, I think are way better, and a little healthier for you with Salsa rather than ketchup.
